SAIL Programme – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Can a Year 3 Final semester student apply?
Yes, Year 3 final semester students are eligible to apply. We welcome applications from students across different years of study who meet the programme criteria.
2. Do I need to have a leadership position in my CCA to apply?
No, a leadership position is not compulsory. However, we are interested in hearing about your CCA participation and experiences.
3. Is there a cost to participate in the SAIL programme?
This is an award programme, and the cost of the trip is fully sponsored by Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP).
This applies to both Singapore Citizens and Singapore PR students.
4. Will the trip be subsidised or do we pay any part of it?
No payment is required. The trip is fully covered by NP under this award programme.
5. How many students will be selected for the trip?
There are 30 places available for the SAIL programme in March 2025.
All applications will be assessed on their own merit,
regardless of competition.
6. What are the selection criteria for the interview?
We are looking for students who have:

Participated in a School Trip, Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP), or Youth Expedition Programme (YEP) in a Southeast Asian city.

Strong teamwork and cross-cultural collaboration skills.

Adaptability and problem-solving abilities.

A sense of curiosity and innovation.
7. When will the trip take place?
The trip is tentatively scheduled from 17–30 March 2025. Final dates will be confirmed with selected students.
8. Are there any preparatory requirements before the trip?
Yes, selected students must attend a 1-day pre-trip session before departure.
9. Are there any deliverables or commitments after the programme?
Yes, the programme is conducted in a hackathon format, and the key deliverable will be a group showcase presentation at the end of the programme in each city.
